Description:
Zoned earth fill dam in for water supply purposes, located in the Algarve (Portugal).
The dam has a height of 76 m and stores 75 hm3.

The spillway was designed for a 1455 m3/s flow and a free-flow weir equipped with three radial gates (7,5 × 11 m2) and energy dissipation by ski jump.
​
AQUALOGUS developed the Detailed Design and provided Technical Assistance during construction.

Rehabilitation of the Areia Branca Dam - Brazil

Description:
Roller compacted concrete (dam body) and earthfill (right abutment) dam for hydropower purposes, located in Manhaçu river (Brazil). The dam is 30 m high.
The spillway on the central dam body was designed for a 14 333 m3/s flow.
AQUALOGUS developed the detailed design for the rehabilitation, afeter the occurrence of a slope instability downstream of the right abutment, associated with internal erosion phenomena occurring 70 m to the right of the insertion of the dam body in the foundation.

Description:
New Alto Ceira dam is a double-curvature arch dam for hydropower proposes., located in Ceira river (Portugal). The dam is 41 m high, has a 138 m long crest and stores 1.3 hm3. The spillway is a free-flow WES-type weir and respective stilling basin.
AQUALOGUS developed and implemented the dam’s Risk Management Plan, in which aspects related to slope stability played a prominent role

Description:
Zoned earth fill dam in for water supply and hydropower purposes, located in Cabo Delgado (Mozambique). The dam has a height of 50 m, 2710 m crest length and stores 163 hm3.
The spillway was designed for a 9000 m3/s flow and has a free-flow weir equipped with five radial gates (14 × 15 m2) and energy dissipation by roller bucket.

Description:
Existing gravity concrete dam, for water supply and irrigation purposes, located in Béchar (Algeria). The dam is 37 m high and stores 360 hm3. The existing spillway is uncontrolled with modified Creager profile and has insufficient capacity.
AQUALOGUS analyzed hydraulic and structural safety conditions and proposed measures to rehabilitate the dam, including increasing the capacity of the reservoir and constructing a complementary spillway.

The spillway was designed por a 5415 m3/s flow and has an uncontrolled weir with WES profile and energy dissipation by roller bucket.
AQUALOGUS carried out the Feasibility Study, which includes the analysis of alternative solutions.
