Study of the Rechlorination Stations on Water Supply
Clients: ATMAD - Águas de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro
Description:
The purpose of the study was the kinetic evaluation of the chlorine decay in the water supply systems included in the ATMAD concession. The study was developed with hydraulic and water quality modelling of the systems.
Given the defined objective, the applied methodology involved the compilation of the system’s cadastral elements and of the equipments’ operational settings concerning the development of an application software and the building of the computational model of hydraulic and chlorine decay simulation and its calibration, based on the system’s automation data;

The results obtained with the developed models were allowed the making of adjustments in the chlorine settings in the system source and in strategic nodes of the network. In what concerns the rechlorination in the system, a number of new stations where designed.

The simulation models were built over a commercial application software, with adaptation of specific modules for the work’s requirements.

Study of The Water Supply to Proença City - Source Capacity, Treatment, Storage and Transport of the Corgas Subsystem
Clients: AdC - Águas do Centro
Description:
The focus of this study was the Proença-a-Nova water supply system, with the particular tasks of evaluating the global water demand for public consumption, evaluating of the installed capacity in the Corgas subsystem, regarding the source, treatment, pumping, transport and storage to the delivery nodes, and the technical and economical evaluation of the proposed interventions for the fulfilment of the demand.

The study was carried through the development of simulation models for operating the water source reservoirs within the system and the collection of elements from the adductor registration system, the settings of the operating equipment, and flow and level records for the summer and winter periods. A computational model of hydraulic simulation was built (based on a commercial natured application software with the adaptation of specific modules) for the current and future situations in order to assess the feasibility of strengthening the water supply to Proenca-a-Nova and the definition and optimization of solutions.

Multimunicipal Water Supply to the Algarve. Design and Procedures for Tender - 5th Group
Clients: AdA - Águas do Algarve
Description:
The project includes the elaboration of preliminary designs and the final design for rehabilitation and construction of hydraulic infrastructures of the Multi-Municipal Water Supply System of Algarve. The infrastructures designed are in the municipalities of Castro Marim, Tavira, Loulé, Faro, Vila do Bispo, Lagoa, Albufeira, Portimão and Lagos. The infrastructures designed include approximately 120.5 km of intake pipes with different diameters, between 100 mm and 1000 mm, 4 pumping stations, reservoirs and three different points of water delivery. Associated with each project, we have prepared its procedures for the tender of the construction works.
The projects are in different stages of their development, from preliminary design to construction.

Final Design of the Alentejo’s North Coast System
Clients: Águas Públicas do Alentejo
Description:
The project covers the supply systems of Grandola and Alcacer do Sal, and includes 2 different phases, preliminary design and final design. In the preliminary design it was carried out the characterization and diagnosis of the existing infrastructure and proposals for solutions of systems integration were elaborated. For the final design, the AQUALOGUS defined the infrastructures required to implement the recommended solutions, including 5 water withdrawals, 4 pumping stations, 8 reservoirs and about 100 km of pipelines. The remodeling and rehabilitation of the existing reservoirs and pumping stations is still ongoing. For this project, AQUALOGUS has also developed the procedures for the tender of the construction works.

Final Design of the Water Supply to the Aldeia dos Fernandes and Aldeia do Neves/Rosário
Clients: Águas Públicas do Alentejo
Description:
The aim of the project was the water supply to the villages of Aldeia dos Fernandes and Aldeia dos Neves / Rosário, and it has been developed in two phases, a Technical Note for the solution evaluation and a Final Design.
The proposed system considered two distinct phases of implementation, in what concerns the source of the water system. The proposed works include the expansion of the Moinhos de Vento Water Treatment Plant, the execution of a pumping station in the grounds of treatment plant, the redevelopment of the Aldeia dos Fernandes reservoir, about 15 km of passages, chambers of maneuver, points of delivery of water and rechlorination stations.
The process included the procedures for the tender of the construction works.

Study of the Water Supply to the Abrantes City from the Castelo do Bode Reservoir - Supply to the South Bank
Clients: Serviços Municipalizados da Câmara Municipal de Abrantes
Description:
The performed study focused on the adequacy and optimization of the Abrantes’ water supply system with origin in the Castelo do Bode reservoir. Given the study’s objectives, the following main activities were carried out:
-
Compilation of the system’s constitution data.
-
Evaluation of the present and future water demand.
-
Building and calibration of the hydraulic simulation model, in articulation and connection with system’s operation criteria.
-
Building of the hydraulic simulation model for the enlargement scenario of system’s influence area (supply to the south bank) and analysis of alternative solutions.
-
Technical and economical evaluation of the alternative solutions and prioritization of the projected interventions in the system.
The simulation models were built over commercial application software, with the adaptation of specific modules for the work’s requirements.

Final Design for the Remodeling of the Carvalhos Pumping Station, the Construction of the Póvoa de Rio de Moinhos Pumping Station and the Remodeling of the Pumping Station for Vale Covo and Fors. Vicente da Beira
Clients: AdC - Águas do Centro
Description:
The project has included the preparation of a technical note for the definition of solutions, the final designs and the procedures for the tender of the construction works.
The purpose of the final designs developed were the reshaping the Carvalhos pumping station, the construction of the Póvoa de Rio Moinhos pumping station, the remodeling of the Sobral do Campo reservoir and the remodeling the Pisco pumping station.
The main intervention in the Carvalhos pumping station consisted of installing in the system three new pump groups with vertical axis, remodeling the rechlorination system and upgrading the station building and the grounds in general.
The Rio de Moinhos pumping station of was designed from scratch, consisting of 3 groups of vertical axis and it includes provided a rechlorination system.
The remodeling of the Sobral do Campo reservoir was made through an expansion of the existing maneuvers camera in order to accommodate two pumping stations (with groups of vertical axis) with different destinations, both equipped with a rechlorination system.
The remodeling of Pisco pumping consisted in a new building to house the maneuver equipment and submersible pump groups were provided to the contiguous reservoir.

Castelo do Bode Adductor. Alcanhões Strectch - Várzeas das Chaminés. Duplication of the Strech in the Area of the Azambuja Special Strcuture
Clients: EPAL - Empresa Portuguesa de Águas Livres
Description:
The purpose of this project is the duplication of a stretch of the Castelo do Bode accuctor (Alcanhões – Várzea das Chaminés).
The concepted works are locates in the urban area of the Azambuja village, in parallel with the Azambuja Special Structure. The first line of the Castelo do Bode adductor, in the intervention area, is a reinforced concrete pipeline DN1800. The pipelines for the second line will be in steek, DN1800, and in the crossing of the main road of Azambuja, by the Azambuja Health Centre, the siting will be made though horizontal driving.

Castelo do Bode Adductor. By-Pass Strecht Upstream from Várzea das Chaminés
Clients: EPAL - Empresa Portuguesa de Águas Livres
Descirption:
The purpose of this project was the definition of the works for the replacement of a stretch of the Castelo do Bode adductor, upstream from the Várzea das Chaminés.
The design of this by-pass took into account its subsequent integration in the duplication structure of the Castelo do Bode adductor.
Furthermore, the problems related to the constructive method for the connection between the new stretch and the existing pipeline were studied. The main focus were the constraints caused by the period of interruption in the watersupply.
The rehabilitation works for the existing structures in the stretch of the Castelo do Bode adductor, between the Azambuja Special Structure and Várzea das Chaminés,were also developed in this project.
